In order to select applicants for programs with limited clinical slots, a competitive admissions procedure, NOT a waiting list, will be used which utilizes a point system This procedure will be used when there are more applicants who have met the minimum admissions requirements than we have available clinical spaces. Those applicants with the highest number of points will be selected for the available clinical slots.
The Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Radiography, and Surgical Technology programs utilize a point system based on academic performance in specific post secondary coursework to determine who is selected for the clinical slots.
Applicants, who are eligible to be ranked, will be assigned points equal to the quality points in the computation of the grade point average for the non-clinical courses that are a part of the curriculum. In other words, points are assigned based on the grade received for the class and the number of credit hours the class is worth. Non-clinical courses are the General Education classes that are a part of the curriculum (i.e. - ENG 111, PSY 150, BIO 163, or BIO 168). Clinical courses are the actual DEN, NUR, SUR, and RAD classes that are listed on the curriculum.
